Sevilla ‘are not willing’ to sign defender Alex Telles permanently from Manchester United in the summer, unless they lower their demands for the left-back.
That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who say the Spanish club are happy with that they’ve seen of the Brazilian but don’t agree with United’s demands given he will be entering the final year of his contract this summer.
The newspaper covers how there is set to be a major overhaul of the Sevilla squad at the end of the season after an almost disastrous campaign.
At the moment Telles will be departing and returning to Manchester United at the end of his loan deal, despite the Spanish side being happy with him.
They are pleased with Telles’ ‘commitment and performance’ so far during his loan spell but they don’t agree with the valuation Manchester United have put on him.
They believe that the defender’s price tag needs to be lowered given he enters the final year of his deal this summer and are ‘not willing to sign him’ permanently unless that happens.
Telles, for his part, is happy in Spain and was asked about his future yesterday, dodging the question but insisting that his future will be determined by how he performs at the end of this campaign.
“What I have to do is do my job in the best way possible,” Estadio report him saying.
“I don’t think about the future because that depends on what I do now. Now I have to play and train.
“I’ve always said that I’m happy at Sevilla, I’m treated very well and now I have to play and do my best, which is the most important thing.”
It seems, then, the ball is in Manchester United’s court. It’s clear they have no plans for Telles moving forwards, with Luke Shaw impressing this season and Tyrell Malacia joining in the summer.
They need to lower their demands if they want to tempt Sevilla into a purchase, though, with that seemingly not in the Spanish side’s plans at the current price point.
