Late last week, back when the Argentine media were claiming that Sergio Romero was in talks with Boca Juniors, it seemed like the Buenos Aires side were the favourites to land the Manchester United goalkeeper.
However, reports from the local press have been building a different scenario in the past few days, with the latest update coming from El Intransigente claiming he’s ‘made a decision’ on his future.
The outlet writes that Romero would prefer to stay in Europe due to ‘family reasons’, which is why he’s waiting for offers, even though he knows this is likely to be a complicated market, thus making him open to other moves.
The chances of moving to the MLS are said to be ‘on the table’, while returning to Argentina ‘isn’t ruled out’, but the problem is that it’s unlikely to be with Boca Juniors.
El Intransigente says that in the Manchester United player’s inner circle, the belief is the only club Romero would play for in Argentina would be Racing, where he started his career.
They point out the goalkeeper often visits the club’s academy and has a strong bond with them, which is why Boca, who are on the verge of losing goalkeeper Esteban Andrada, are now expected to miss out on his signing.
