Thankfully, it looks like the Tahith Chong to Werder Bremen mini-saga is coming to an end. The potential transfer has only been reported on for around a week, yet it’s been something of a rollercoaster.

The German stance has been changing repeatedly. On Friday it was reported the move, set to be a season long loan without a buying option, was imminent and that Chong was on his way to Germany to complete the transfer.

Then on Saturday morning, Bild reported there’d been last minute problems and the whole thing could collapse. Manchester United have been asking Werder to pay Chong’s wages whilst he’s with them, something the German club have been against.

Other clubs, from the Bundesliga and Premier League, had become involved, and were willing to offer better terms to the Old Trafford club.

An update from Bild suggests those problems are now solved, with Chong given permission to fly to Austria, where the German side are starting a preseason training camp.

Unless there’s yet another twist, this deal should be announced soon.
