Manchester United youngster Hannibal Mejbri continues to find himself in a ‘very strange situation’ on loan at Sevilla, with the move having turned into a ‘soap opera’.

That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who cover the player today and how he’s still to establish himself under Quique Sanchez Flores.

The newspaper explains that the Manchester United youngster is yet to convince the Sevilla manager of his quality, with the Spaniard even preferring Adnan Januzaj in the team over him.

The situation is quickly becoming a ‘soap opera’ for the youngster, who arrived on loan from Manchester United in January in search of regular playing time and much-needed development.

Instead, he’s found himself confined to the bench with just 37 minutes of football under his belt to date, leaving him frustrated and director of football Victor Orta, who pushed for the move to happen in the first place, in an awkward position.

It all seems to rest on manager Quique Sanchez Flores, who has not been keen on Hannibal from day one and has criticised the youngster in public.

He left him on the subs bench for the clash with Real Madrid on Sunday, preferring to use Januzaj from the bench, ‘a very strange situation’ that Estadio believe indicates his time at the Sanchez Pizjuan will be a short one.

The loan deal from Manchester United includes a purchase clause set at €20m but the reality is that is ‘very far from being executed’ and the deal will end in the summer, when everyone will surely question why it happened in the first place.
