It seems Manchester United loanee Alvaro Carreras is having a quite unimpressive loan spell in Portugal.

As newspaper Correio da Manhã today writes about Benfica’s issues on the left-back position, they give the Red Devils’ player a couple of mentions which are not positive at all.

It’s claimed that Carreras, as well as Morato, have not been giving Benfica any ‘security’ when playing in that position.

Specifically about the Manchester United player, Correio da Manhã claims that he’s been taking ‘too long to convince’ at the Eagles.

Carreras has 10 appearances for Benfica so far, most of them as a late substitute, as they’ve been preferring to use midfielder Fredrik Aursnes adapted to the left-back than him.

That’s not good for Manchester United, as the Eagles are now unlikely to use their €6m buying option to buy the Spaniard at the end of the season.

Now since the Red Devils have been struggling with the lack of a left-back following the injuries of Luke Shaw and Tyrel Malacia, it seems Carreras wouldn’t have been of much use for Erik ten Hag either.
