On Saturday, Corriere dello Sport reported Joshua Zirkzee’s Manchester United exit can go through late in January.

They spoke of AS Roma’s initial loan offer but the Italian side have put forward an obligation to buy if they qualify for the Champions League. More details are slowly emerging, with Il Messaggero claiming that Zirkzee is at breaking points with Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim, who it’s believed has had enough of him.

The newspaper – relayed by RomaNews, indicates a deal can likely go through mid-January, when Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbeumo return from AFCON.

The Portuguese manager is keen on moving Zirkzee on, especially after his performance against Newcastle United. The Dutchman had come on in the second-half but didn’t make a mark despite the Red Devils’ 1-0 win.

Hooked at half-time against Wolves

He started against Wolves on Wednesday, and even scored via a deflection, but was taken off at half time.

Gianluca di Marzio also spoke about the 24-year-old’s potential move to Roma after the Italian club’s 3-0 win over Genoa on Monday.

He told Sky Italia – relayed by RomaForever: “The player wants the Giallorossi, and United can let him go for a whole host of reasons. The player performed poorly and was even booed in the last match.”

The journalist made it clear that it is only a matter of time before Zirkzee departs Manchester United. More than that, terms are in place for a transfer.

“In short, all the conditions are in place for the deal. We just have to wait until mid-January or for the club to buy a replacement. But it’s like a promise of marriage, that’s all.”

This season, Manchester United have seen Matheus Cunha play as a striker multiple times in the absence of Benjamin Sesko. This has led to Zirkzee being on the bench more often than not.
