Manchester United have reportedly made a new offer for Ajax star Antony.
According to Dutch outlet De Telegraaf, the Red Devils placed a bid worth €90m on Friday afternoon. It’s claimed it’s ‘not known’ if that figure includes bonuses or not.
Even though it’s also not clear whether Ajax will take that offer or not, the outlet writes that from the Johan Cruyff Arena ‘it still sounds that Antony is no longer for sale’. To prove that, they take quotes from club manager Alfred Scheuder, who on Thursday, spoke to the local media about his wish to keep the player.
De Telegraaf claims Antony ‘hopes’ that the Dutch club’s directors will ‘intervene’ in that situation and accept Manchester United’s offer, since the club’s coaching staff continue to want him to stay.
The outlet points out it’s not clear if the Red Devils will ever come for him again, so that may be Ajax’s last chance of making that much money from the player.
As the Dutch club try to convince Antony that staying would be a good thing, despite his recent behaviour, it’s claimed that their wish to hold him was repeated to his agents and his brother on Friday morning. They’re highly concerned about having no alternative to replace him so late in the window, and that’s the main reason to resist Manchester United’s attempts.
