On Monday, Le10 Sport reported Manchester United are one of the three clubs to have made concrete moves to sign Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte this summer.
The Uruguay international had a mixed debut season at PSG, but has managed to impress for his national team at the Copa América, which hasn’t gone unnoticed.
A fresh report from Le10 Sport relays yesterday’s claim and then adds Manchester United are ‘exerting a lot of pressure’ on both the 23-year-old and the Ligue 1 winners.
It’s claimed the Red Devils are ‘very optimistic’ of agreeing a deal with the Paris club for the midfielder. That’s because Erik ten Hag’s side have made progress in this deal and the report states ‘not much’ would be currently missing to find an agreement.
Manchester United have reportedly proposed €45m plus bonuses for the former Sporting man, who has a deal until 2028. PSG initially had no plans to sell the player, but they are now internally evaluating the Premier League side’s offer.
Le 10 state Luis Enrique can either ask PSG to reject offers or open the exit door for the South American this summer. The final decision on his future is in the manager’s hands, and it seems like he’s yet to decide on whether or not to count on Ugarte next season.
Despite this, Manchester United believe they can bring Ugarte to Old Trafford.
