Manchester United have been regularly named as one of Gonçalo Inácio’s interested parties.

Last month, A Bola hinted Manchester United could make an approach for the defender in the summer window after Sporting put a €45m price tag on him.

Wednesday’s edition of A Bola points out Manchester United have been looking at Inácio for over a year.

Ruben Amorim worked with the centre-back at Sporting and recent claims in the UK have stated the manager wants to reunite with him at Manchester United.

A Bola relay that and then state the Lions are open to talks for the 23-year-old’s transfer.

The Portugal international is represented by Miguel Pinho, who also manages Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes. The report indicates Amorim’s connection, and the agent ties could favour the Reds Devils, who are one of his firm contenders.

Inácio has a €60m release clause and Sporting had previously refused to negotiate that amount. That can change in the summer, and they have set a €45m price tag for him.

The newspaper’s title says Manchester United are ‘open to negotiations’, but it feels like this is more a case of opportunistic reports being jumped on to try and hype a Sporting exit.
