Mason Greenwood’s future may have taken a surprise twist as Napoli have now reached an agreement with Manchester United for him.
That’s according to Sport Mediaset, relayed by Calcio Napoli 24, who say the Italian side are ‘one step away’ from securing ‘another super signing’.
They report that Greenwood is ‘very close’ to joining Napoli this summer, with Sport Mediaset reporting that an agreement has been struck between them and Manchester United for the forward.
They state that Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis has ‘made an overbearing turn’ towards the Manchester United man and, via a ‘burning acceleration’ has managed to put his side at the front of the queue for him.
A general agreement has been struck with the Red Devils on the basis of a €30m asking price, something that has not only blown Lazio out of the water but dealt a blow to Roberto de Zerbi’s Marseille.
Lazio had not gone beyond an offer of €20m plus 50% on a future resale while a potential move to Marseille has become complicated.
Napoli have now seemingly stolen a march on the competition as a result and there is a belief the situation is something to watch out for in the next few hours.
