Spanish outlet Cope this week brings some interesting information on Manchester United’s interest in Real Sociedad players.
Their story is mostly about Mikel Merino, whose renewal process with the La Liga side is currently in a ‘stalemate’.
With no agreement for an extension, his contract with Real Sociedad expires in 2025, and that could favour a move in the summer.
Manchester United are said to be one of the clubs who are interested in him, as they send officials to ‘closely follow his performances’, along with the likes of Atlético Madrid, Juventus and Manchester City.
Merino, who’s praised for the ‘masterful work in recovering balls’, doesn’t seem to be the only Real Sociedad player catching attention.
The outlet points out that the likes of Martin Zubimendi, Take Kubo and Le Normand are all winning fans.
Back to Merino, who seems to be the main target, it’s highlighted that he’s protected by a €60m release clause, but in case a contract renewal isn’t agreed, the Spanish club may be forced to sell him for less.
