For a few years now, Italian clubs have been specialists in taking advantage of the transfer market and spending little to sign players who aren’t wanted by Premier League sides.

That’s why Serie A became a usual destination for moves from clubs like Manchester United, who worked on several departures in the past couple of years.

One of the players who said farewell to the Red Devils was Diogo Dalot, who joined AC Milan on a loan deal. And according to Calcio Mercato, there were other teammates who could have moved from Old Trafford to the San Siro with him.

It’s reported that Andreas Pereira and Chris Smalling were both offered to the Rossoneri as well, but the Serie A giants rejected the chance of signing them.

It’s said Smalling was on Milan’s table, but the player always wanted to stay at Roma, where he’d already spent a season on loan. So that’s why the talks for him never went very far.

Regarding Andreas Pereira, who ended up signing for Lazio, Calcio Mercato says Milan had already chosen to go for Brahim Diaz, and wouldn’t make a heavy investment on another player for the position.
