Manchester United are now in ‘advanced talks’ to seal the signing of Mathijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich, with the player keen on the move.

That’s according to journalists Florian Plettenberg and Kerry Hau, with the latter stating that an agreement between Bayern and Manchester United for him is now close.

De Ligt has been edging closer to a move to Old Trafford and a reunion with Erik ten Hag over the last few weeks, with it claimed that the player is keen on the move to England and talks have been progressing.

That continued today, with Plettenberg and BILD essentially stating that a deal was there to be done and it just needed the two clubs to get a move on and sort it.

Plettenberg now reports that the De Ligt wants to join Manchester United ‘with immediate effect’ and has informed Bayern about this.

There’s already a verbal agreement between the player and United over a long-term contract and his agent, Rafaela Pimenta, is now working on the final details to get the deal done and sealed.

A medical has not been booked yet but the two clubs are in ‘advanced talks’ to push things along and bring the matter to a close.

Hau reiterates most of this but adds that an agreement is now close between the two sides, with De Ligt seemingly one step away from reuniting with Ten Hag at Manchester United.
