The rumours linking Bayern Munich striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting to Manchester United have been largely dismissed by the German media today.

Following initial reports from the English press about the potential January move, Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg shows up to cool things down.

“I can’t confirm these rumours at the moment,” he said.

It’s claimed on their website that Choupo-Moting actually wants to stay at Bayern Munich at least until the end of the season, and there are no concrete talks with Manchester United.

The Bundesliga side are not interested in getting rid of him in the short term, as he’s their primary back-up for Harry Kane.

It’s said the only possibility of a move would be if Manchester United arrive with an ‘immoral offer’ in the coming days, while there’s no bid from the Red Devils from the table.

A summer move is more likely for Choupo-Moting, with Sky claiming that Saudi Arabia and Qatar are two potential destinations for him. Bayern don’t expect to hold him then, and maybe that’s when Manchester United would get a chance to sign him, in case their interest remains… if it ever existed.
