Manchester United may be gearing up to make a move for AS Monaco defender Axel Disasi after meeting his entourage.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who say ‘the battle has already begun’ for the player’s signature in the summer.
They explain that Disasi, who has established himself as one of the best defenders in Ligue 1 this season and is part of France’s squad for this international break, has been earning himself plenty of attention
Several English sides ‘follow his performances closely’ but it is Manchester United who are ‘advancing’ the most at this moment in time.
Erik ten Hag would like to add a someone who is ‘solid’ and also ‘strong in one-on-one situations’ and there is a belief the 25-year-old could be that man.
They’ve now progressed their interest, with Manchester United officials meeting Disasi’s entourage a fortnight ago.
The nature of that meeting or what was discussed isn’t clear, although Disasi already stated publicly after the summer transfer window last year that he’d love to move to England.
If he is to move to Old Trafford, they will have to pay around €50m, with that his estimated price tag following his performances this season, which have made him ‘one of the most coveted’ defenders in the world.
