As things stand, the future isn’t looking great for Eric Bailly at Marseille, and a return to Manchester United is very much on the cards.
That’s according to La Provence, who take a look at how the Ivory Coast international’s status has plummeted in recent months, to the point where Igor Tudor doesn’t really want to use him.
He’s now fifth, or even sixth, in the hierarchy in the south of France, and despite a €7m option to buy that will become automatic depending on whether the club qualify for the Champions League and the number of appearances made by the Manchester United loanee, he might end up going back to England.
They point out that his ‘medium term’ future seems to be far from Marseille, and the short-term ‘does not appear any brighter’.
Given the fact he seemed like a great acquisition in the first half of the campaign before injuries caught up with him yet again, his time with the Ligue 1 club on loan from Manchester United ‘leaves for the moment a sour taste in the mouth’.
That’s why the centre-back has nine games left to ‘changes his manager’s opinion’, but considering Tudor’s current stance, that seems like a really tall order.
