Raphael Varane would accept an offer to return to Real Madrid from Manchester United next month and would be flexible with his salary if needs be.
That’s according to AS, who continue to insist that the French centre-back is an option for the Spanish giants are looking at in the coming weeks.
The newspaper reported yesterday that Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti would welcome Varane back into the fold as he needs to find a replacement for the injured David Alaba and Eder Militao.
That report claimed the option of signing the Manchester United man had not been put on the table as yet but now they say it has and that Ancelotti views him ‘very favourably’.
The good news is that Varane is ‘willing to be transferred back’ in the January market too as he is not happy at Manchester United and ‘feels relegated’ by Erik ten Hag for no reason.
He ‘longs for’ a return to the Spanish capital, where he still has a home and usually spends short periods of time if he can with his family, especially around holidays.
Thus ‘everything is in favour’ of the transfer happening, with it explained that even his salary is not a problem as the Frenchman is willing to be flexible in negotiations to help ‘fulfil his dream of a return’.
The only real obstacle could be Bayern Munich, who also see him as a market opportunity and could be willing to make an offer between €10-20m to secure his signature in the coming weeks.
Madrid, then, need to make their move and AS say it is they who must make the first step. Fortunately, relations with Manchester United are now ‘fully restored’ after the deals for Varane and Casemiro in recent years, which may help speed up a process that Varane and Madrid seem keen to get underway.
