Ever since it was announced that Eric Bailly was of interest to Marseille in France, we have covered the Manchester United defender’s time in the south of France.
Unable to convince Erik ten Hag, the Ivory Coast international was sent out on loan with an option to buy to the Ligue 1 club, where the hope would be he would play well and be bought.
Played well he has, but his biggest problem, as was the case at Manchester United, has been staying fit, with him picking up two separate injuries since the start of the campaign.
His last one came in a Champions League game against Tottenham, which he’s still recovering from, as reported by L’Equipe on Tuesday.
The French newspaper bring an update about the player’s fitness, and explain the Manchester United man is ‘continuing his fitness program and should be able to reintegrate the collective training sessions this week’.
In fact, Igor Tudor, the manager at Marseille, Bailly has undergone a ‘real physical preparation with a specific focus on his thigh in order to avoid new injuries’ to the problem area.
If he does manage to do that, he could be a very valuable asset for the Ligue 1 side, which could then lead them to trigger the option to buy in the deal with Manchester United, which is said to stand at around €6.5m.
