Manchester United’s Antony has caused ‘total indignation’ at Real Madrid, after seeing his recent red card for Real Betis rescinded.

AS cover the situation today and how the Brazilian has ended up infuriating Real Madrid by seeing a red card and suspension overturned.

The Manchester United flop is currently on loan at Real Betis and has been shining since joining them in the January transfer window, bagging three goals and two assists in six games to date.

The first low point came three days ago, though, as a rash late challenge saw him shown a red card in the 94th minute of a 2-1 win over Getafe.

That would have ruled the Manchester United loanee out of the weekend’s clash with Real Madrid, but Spanish football’s Disciplinary Committee have now decided to overturn it. And that decision has led to ‘total indignation’ at Real Madrid.

They’ve claimed that the DC ‘skips the legal arguments’ and have insisted ‘they are not going to bow their heads in the face of such foolishness’.

The Spanish giants have seen the decision as a continuation of their battle against the authorities in Spanish football with a delegation from the club claiming as much when questioned by AS.

“It can’t be, in their eagerness to go hunting against Madrid they are even skipping the legal arguments,” he said.

“To take away a red card that has been clearly assessed by the refereeing body and well explained in the minutes is as if the judges are now going to re-referee the matches. They have not been shy; they have done it with the aim of hurting us.

“They have declared war on us and are using every means imaginable, even if it means embarrassing the very referees they claim to defend so much. We can imagine how Alberola Rojas must feel. Pitiful.”

The newspaper adds that the words used to describe the decision to overturn the Manchester United man’s suspension has ‘provoked the most astonishment’ at the club and even accused officials of trying to ‘falsify reality’.

Even Betis have been left somewhat surprised by the decision, and they’ve been left feeling ‘great joy’ that their new star man will be available given he’s ‘fallen on his feet’ at the club since arriving.

Madrid, though, are furious, with the decision to allow Antony to play seen as the latest attack on the club by officials and the league in general.
