The idea of bringing Jadon Sancho back from Manchester United ‘would be appealing’ for Borussia Dortmund in the January transfer window.
That’s according to SportBILD and journalist Christian Kynast, who says the move from the German club to inquire about their former winger was the right one.
Reports earlier this week made it clear that Dortmund had actually come up with a plan to try and sign Sancho, who currently finds himself out of favour at Manchester United.
He’s had a very public falling out with manager Erik ten Hag, something which has left him banished from the first team and training alone.
It is increasingly likely he will be on his way out in January in some form or other and Dortmund had reportedly asked about a potential deal, before ruling it out due to concerns over Sancho’s attitude and the finances involved.
Kynast, though, argues that Dortmund ‘lack a player like Sancho’ and are short in this area compared to their rivals, with Bayern enjoying Harry Kane, Bayer Leverkusen Boniface and RB Leipzig Xavi Simons.
Their hopes currently rest of Karim Adeyemi, who is out of form, or Julien Duranville, who still needs time to adjust to his new club.
They’re at a ‘clear disadvantage’ in the fight for the title and thus signing Sancho from Manchester United could prove to be a boost.
He could be the ‘truly exceptional player’ for them who makes the difference with creativity and goals, as he once did alongside Erling Haaland Jude Bellingham.
Thus, the idea of a transfer ‘would be appealing’ although they’d need assurances after already ruling it out and having been stung when brining back former players in the past.
It’s a situation to keep an eye on, with Sancho’s situation at Manchester United not improving quickly and the idea of a return to Dortmund seemingly growing in Germany.
