On Friday, we covered claims made in Italy that Atalanta’s Rasmus Højlund has reached an agreement with Manchester United. It was also said the Red Devils have already made a verbal offer to the Serie A side.
This is highlighted by Alfredo Pedullà, who then states the Premier League side’s verbal offer was too low for the Italian club.
He claims Manchester United are obsessed with the 20-year-old and are focusing their efforts on signing him, after completing the deal for André Onana.
Erik ten Hag’s side were involved in negotiations with Inter Milan for a few weeks before getting the deal over the line for the goalkeeper. They had to convince the Nerazzzurri to lower their demands.
Pedullà says Manchester United want to repeat the strategy for Højlund but states the negotiations won’t last as long as the Onana operation.
Gian Piero Gasperini had reportedly requested Atalanta find a solution for the Denmark international before the end of this month. The website states the deadline ‘foresees live contacts between the intermediaries’ involved in this operation over the weekend.
It’s claimed Manchester United, after making a verbal proposal, should make an ‘official offer’ of around €60m plus rich bonuses anytime from Monday.
Pedullà says next week could be the ‘right one’, likely for the two clubs to agree a deal for the Dane’s transfer.
