For the past few days, it’s been looking likely that French side Lyon will win the race for Facundo Pellistri from Peñarol. Reports from France have been claiming the Ligue 1 giants are close to getting the Uruguayan wonderkid.
However, Manchester United have also been following the teenager for a while, and it seems the Red Devils may still have a shot at this transfer.
Italian outlet Calcio Mercato writes today that the Premier League side made a late offer for the winger. That was a ‘written’ bid to Peñarol and a five-year contract to him.
Interestingly, one of the issues about the deal with Lyon is that the Uruguayan side want to keep the player on loan until the end of the year. And according to Calcio Mercato, Manchester United aren’t against this idea.
Still, the website says Lyon are ahead in the race. The numbers the offers aren’t revealed by the website, so we can just guess that the French side are making the higher bid for now.
