Manchester United are one of the clubs who ‘have targeted’ Lyon fullback Malo Gusto, according to reports from France.
L’Equipe today writes that the Red Devils, along with Barcelona, have recently ‘positioned themselves’ by making ‘contact’ with the player’s entourage.
Manchester United and Barça are both said to be ‘interested in welcoming’ the 19-year-old still in this transfer window, which promises a good battle for the final weeks of the summer market.
The French outlet claims that following a ‘catastrophic start to the season’, the Red Devils now look for a ‘starting’ right-back, with Erik ten Hag not particularly amused by Diogo Dalot.
It’s also said that Barcelona would have ‘fewer financial resources’ than the Premier League sides.
Still, Lyon ‘have no intention’ of selling Gusto, so taking him from the French club isn’t going to be easy.
“A lot of clubs approached us but we were very clear, no departure”, a source told L’Equipe.
The story still points out that other European clubs such as Manchester City and Paris Saint Germain had both taken information about the player earlier in the summer.
However, their pursuit didn’t go further than that, making it look like Barcelona and Manchester United are the only sides who are actually alive in this race for the youngster.
