Manchester United have been somewhat slow in the transfer market since securing the signing for Matheus Cunha from Wolves. That was done via the player’s release clause, meaning there wasn’t a lot of negotiation to be had.

Since then the club have been in a seemingly endless dialogue with Brentford to try and get a deal over the line for Bryan Mbuemo, with the London club obviously working to force the best financial package possible.

Other than that, it’s been relatively quiet for Manchester United.

Now there’s a claim from France that the Red Devils have moved for a rather unexpected deal.

According to L’Equipe, Manchester United have made contact with Corentin Tolisso’s entourage, trying to find out the conditions to sign the midfielder and whether he’d be interested. According to the French newspaper, the 30-year-old would be keen on such a move.

However, Tolisso won’t force a Lyon exit. He’s clearly flattered by the approach and values it more highly than attempts earlier this summer from Turkey, but he won’t go to war with his club.

That’s all L’Equipe have on the situation so far, and it would appear likely this information is coming from the player’s camp.
