Manchester United have made an offer for Paris Saint Germain midfielder Leandro Paredes and could move for him in the January transfer window, according to claims from the player’s home country.

El Intransigente report the Argentina midfielder has been targeted by several clubs ahead of the winter window and United are one of them.

They claim the club ‘urgently needs’ a midfielder of Paredes’ skills and thus have made an offer to get him out of ‘the pothole’ he currently finds him in.

Paredes has ten appearances in all competitions for PSG so far this season but has only managed four starts in the league.

His place in the team has been taken by summer signing Idrissa Gueye, who is proving to be a big hit in Paris, and this relegated Paredes to the bench.

The Argentine has found himself among the substitutes seven times in the league so far, including the last three games, while he’s also only managed 25 minutes in the Champions League and didn’t make the squad for their previous two games.

That’s not ideal, and it seems several teams are interested in offering him a move away in the January transfer window.

Manchester United are one of them, and the newspaper says of the offers already made, theirs is the ‘most prominent’. AC Milan and Napoli are also named as suitors.

There is no explanation of what this offer is, particularly when it comes to figures, although the piece is headlined ‘Paredes received the offer of his life’ suggesting whatever is on the table from Manchester United is significant.

PSG’s stance on potential interest is not mentioned either, although given Paredes isn’t in the team and failing to live up to the £36m they paid for him in January, it’s easy to imagine they may be quite pleased by talk of Manchester United looking to sign him up.
