Matías Vecino has been linked with a move to Everton and Tottenham Hotspur in the winter market.

On January 22nd, we carried a report from Gazzetta dello Sport, who explained that Manchester United have set their sights on the midfielder.

These claims have also been echoed by Calciomercato and they add the player’s relationship with Antonio Conte has rapidly deteriorated. The Nerazzurri are trying to place him on the market and are waiting for an offer.

It’s explained the Red Devils and Lazio ‘like’ the 28-year-old, but neither of the two clubs have come forward with an offer for a straight transfer.

Sky Italia have come up with a short update in Thursday’s live transfer blog and they state ‘United attempt for Vecino’.

According to the report, the Premier League side requested to sign Vecino on a loan deal, but the Serie A side turned down United’s approach.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is without Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay as the duo are out of action with injuries. This has left him with Fred, Andreas Pereira and Nemanja Matić as the only recognised midfielders in the squad.
