Manchester United look set to miss out on the signing of Alphonso Davies, as all indications are that he will renew his deal with Bayern Munich.
That’s according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, who reports that Manchester United are ‘aware’ that Davies is likely to sign a new contract with Bayern than move elsewhere.
Davies’ current contract with the German giants is set to expire in the summer and talks between both parties had not been progressing in recent months.
That had led several bid sides in Europe to start making moves towards him, particularly as he’d be free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement for the summer for 1 January.
Manchester United are one of them, eyeing up the 24-year-old as the solution to their long-term problem at left-back.
Plettenberg now reports that Bayern have made ‘significant progress’ regarding a contract extension beyond 2025.
Negotiations are ongoing and positive and key figures have already been discussed. More details need to be clarified but there is positivity it can be done as Davies has made ‘significant concessions’ for Bayern when it comes to his salary.
More talks are planned before Christmas and it’s not a done deal yet but Manchester United have been made aware that Davies is likely to sig a new contract with Bayern rather than move elsewhere.
