Manchester United will strengthen their defence for the 2022/23 season with the addition of Lisandro Martínez and Tyrell Malacia to their squad.
The Red Devils have already agreed a deal with Ajax for the Argentine’s transfer and will now focus on bolstering other areas of the pitch.
That hasn’t stopped reports linking other centre-backs to Manchester United. L’Equipe on Tuesday name Erik ten Hag’s side and Chelsea as contenders for Benoît Badiashile.
The left footed central defender has been linked with a move away from AS Monaco for the last two years.
Apart from Manchester United and Chelsea, Sevilla are also mentioned in the report. The La Liga side have identified the Frenchman as a target for several weeks, to replace Jules Koundé.
Sevilla have also held a meeting with the Ligue 1 side and offered one of their own players to Monaco to reduce the fee for Badiashile, which hasn’t convinced Monaco. Barcelona could have looked at the player as they will need a new left centre-back after letting Clément Lenglet join Tottenham Hotspur on loan.
L’Equipe then go on to state Chelsea and ‘long time contender’ Manchester United are ‘keeping tabs’ on Badiashile. Monaco will not make it easy and will not discuss his exit for anything less than €50m.
Manchester United have the centre-back position overcrowded and it is unlikely they will consider to sign another player in the position this summer, unless there’s multiple exits first.
