Tahith Chong is slowly picking up minutes whilst on loan at Werder Bremen.

The Manchester United owned player moved to the Bundesliga side in August, set to spend the current season with them. He started well and there were several German reports covering how he’d impressed in training, yet he hasn’t been a starter for the past few games.

In total, Chong has picked up 81 minutes over three Bundesliga matches, and he didn’t get off the bench for the last game against SC Freiburg. In addition to that he played 45 minutes in the cup against FC Carl Zeiss Jena, and scored a goal.

It’s likely amounted to more minutes than he would have got at Manchester United, and there’s plenty of time for the 20-year-old to pick up further experience as the season progresses.

However, he’s now been forced to take a little break. Bild report Felix Agu tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday morning. Chong is considered a category one contact of his teammate, and has even shared a room with him.

Despite Chong testing negative, the German authorities have decided he needs to go through a period of quarantine. The decision will mean two weeks out for the youngster, so is a little setback in his progress.
