Lisandro Martínez and Antony followed Erik ten Hag from Ajax to Manchester United in the summer after the Premier League side appointed the Dutchman as their new manager.
Prior to signing the South American duo, the Red Devils tried taking Jurrien Timber from Ajax. The defender snubbed a chance to reunite with his former manager and decided to continue with the Eredivisie winners, mindful about playing time ahead of the World Cup.
Earlier this month, the 22-year-old detailed his reasons for rejecting Manchester United and also admitted he could change clubs next year.
Despite the failure to sign the Netherlands international the last transfer window, the English side maintain interest in him.
Calciomercato state Timber is the favourite target for AS Roma and their manager, Jose Mourinho. It’s claimed the Serie A side’s scouts have followed the Dutchman on several occasions this season and have received positive reports.
The Giallorossi will face competition from Manchester United and Bayern Munich, say Calciomercato. They must beat those clubs and also overcome the obstacle of paying €30m to Ajax to secure the player’s signature.
Ten Hag’s presence at Old Trafford is likely to give the Red Devils an advantage over Mourinho’s Roma, as is the financial strength at the English club.
