Manchester United are still considered one of the most important candidates to take Gonçalo Ramos out of Benfica this summer.
The Red Devils are mentioned today in a story from Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manhã, who talks about the Eagles’ plans for the transfer window.
It’s said Benfica are worried about losing Ramos this summer, and that’s why they managed to get the preference for the signing of Tony Castellanos from New York City FC.
Speaking of Ramos, it’s claimed the fight for the striker is ‘intensifying’, with Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain ‘in the lead’ of the race.
A few months ago, when Ramos was in a great form, it had been claimed that Benfica wanted his €120m release clause to get triggered for them to let him go.
Now, however, it’s said that they expect to make just €80m with his sale.
The newspaper doesn’t make it clear, though, if Manchester United or PSG are about to place offers to sign the 21-year-old.
Featuring for Benfica this season, Ramos had 27 goals and 12 assists in 47 appearances.
