Manchester United could get Kalidou Koulibaly for €70m this summer, as that’s a price that would tempt Napoli chief Aurelio de Laurentiis.

That’s according to journalist Fabio Santini, who believes United can get the Senegal defender for far below the asking price that has been rumoured.

Koulibaly is widely expected to leave Napoli this summer, with both the player and the club having agreed a move is the best scenario.

That is certainly likely to be the case should Napoli fail to secure Champions League football, as the financial hit would make the deal Koulibaly signed last summer almost untenable for the club.

Naturally, all the big clubs in Europe have been linked with making a move should the centre back be available, including Manchester United.

They have been credited with an interest for several years, and they have already been linked with making a potential move this summer on several occasions.

Should they do so they will likely have to pay a big price, with De Laurentiis thought to be demanding between €80m and €100m for the 28-year-old.

Santini, though, believes that if Manchester United or PSG were to offer €70m, that could tempt De Laurentiis to sit down and discuss terms.

“Kalidou Koulibaly has an evaluation of 100 million, or will it fall after the crisis generated by the Coronavirus?” he told Marte Live Sport, relayed by Arena Napoli.

“Aurelio De Laurentiis knows how to do business and make the most of the teams he has available, also in terms of sales. Gennaro Gattuso is a very strong coach and can be an added value.

“The moment there is a Manchester United or a PSG that arrives with 70 million cash and a quid pro quo, at that point, perhaps, Napoli will sit down at a table to talk about it.

“Let’s look at the reality of things: Koulibaly is valued at 70 million cash by De Laurentiis?

“Then come forward, if you have it, and we’ll talk about it. As Mino Raiola rightly says, no player is non-transferable.”
