Manchester United are interested in Fenerbahçe goalkeeper Altay Bayindir as they look to source replacements for David de Gea this summer.
That’s according to A Spor, relayed by Goal in Turkey, who cover the player today and Manchester United’s apparent interest in a move.
Erik ten Hag’s side are currently without a number one after David de Gea’s contract at Old Trafford came to an end.
United are reportedly still in talks with the Spanish goalkeeper about an extension but, so far, a contract has not been signed and he is a free agent.
It means they do not have a senior goalkeeper for next season, with Dean Henderson and Tom Heaton the only recognised players in that position at this moment in time.
That’s led to speculation that they could sign as many as two goalkeepers this summer, with a move for Inter Milan’s Andre Onana also seemingly in the works and their number one option.
A Spor add Bayindir’s name to the list of potential options, reporting that Manchester United are interested in the 25-year-old, and that the player has a €5m release clause in his contract.
He’s been with Fenerbahçe since a move from Ankaragücü in 2019 and has managed 42 clean sheets and 160 goals in 141 games for the club since that point.
Last season his tally was 31 goals conceded and nine clean sheets in 26 games in the league, with 45 goals conceded and 14 cleans sheets in 40 games in all competitions.
Those are decent enough numbers to say the least and it seems Manchester United are now interested in a potential deal, seemingly as a number two behind Onana, if they can get that deal over the line.
