Flamengo’s interest in Manchester United winger Antony is a story which is suddenly gaining some strength in Brazil.

This information first came from journalist Julio Miguel Neto, who says that the Rio de Janeiro club currently ‘analyse’ the possibility of attempting a one-year loan.

The report claimed that Manchester United are interested in loaning him out and see Flamengo as a ‘good destination’, especially because Andreas Pereira’s spell there had a good outcome.

The news was then commented on by journalist Renato Mauricio Prado, who says ‘Manchester United are itching to get rid of Antony’, as he lost his place there.

He points out that the winger would be an upgrade for the options Flamengo currently have, as despite his recent issues, no one forgets how to play football.

In both reports, Antony’s assault case is mentioned as a potential problem. That remains remembered in Brazil, maybe more so than in the British media, so that may be something that would weigh on Flamengo’s decision to make an attempt.

Now since the story seems to be in very early stages, and yet to be reported by the biggest outlets in the country, we should wait and see how it goes.
