A couple of days ago, Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg claimed Manchester United are ‘closely monitoring’ Matthijs De Ligt’s situation at Bayern Munich.
It was claimed that Erik ten Hag is a ‘big fan’ of the player, and the centre-back is available in case a suitable offer arrives.
The very same Plettenberg is now back with an update on the situation, this time calming things down a little.
The journalist says Manchester United started ‘internal discussions’ about De Ligt, largely because Erik ten Hag would like to sign him.
However, it’s said that there have been no concrete moves from Manchester United, as they’re currently gathering information on the defender’s potential departure from Bayern Munich this summer.
Plettenberg says the Red Devils already have a valuation of how much De Ligt would cost, and that’s around €50m.
Bayern Munich spent €67m to sign him from Juventus in 2022, and he’s now valued by Transfermarkt at €65m. So the only way Manchester United may get a deal for that amount is in case the Bundesliga side are really keen on letting him go.
