On Wednesday, TuttoMercatoWeb reported Manchester United are interested in Rasmus Højlund but feel Atalanta’s asking price of €70m is ‘too much’.
Later that day, Calciomercato stated the 20-year-old had again informed the Serie A side’s CEO, Luca Percassi, about his desire to join the Red Devils in the summer window.
Alfredo Pedulla states Gian Piero Gasperini’s side are asking for €60m initially plus €8-10m in bonuses for the striker.
At the same time, the report says Atalanta ‘want to settle quickly, obviously with the right offer’, in order to save their manager from ‘difficulty’.
It’s been mentioned before in the Bergamo media, local to Atalanta, that a quick sale would be better than a late one, so there’s plenty of time to adjust and spend the money.
On Wednesday, Pedulla said Manchester United could offer €53-55m plus bonuses to sign the Denmark international.
Alfredo Pedulla now states the Premier League side ‘intend to raise the offer’ by €4-5m in fixed fee, taking it to €57-60m and thereby meeting Atalanta’s request.
It’s claimed the Dane is the ‘perfect’ fit for Erik ten Hag and has the ‘ideal characteristics’ to lead Manchester United’s attack. He’s the Premier League side’s ‘obsession’ while other striker targets like Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani are alternatives.
With all parties in favour of a deal, Manchester United could bring Højlund to Old Trafford if they make an offer that can convince Atalanta.
