This has allowed the Premier League side to enter the race as the journalist claims ‘there was an insertion from Manchester United’.
The 25-year-old’s desire is to join the Italian club, but if the France international is open to joining Manchester United, this could be a ‘problem’ for the Rossoneri.
Therefore, Milan are looking at Borussia Monchengladbach’s Manu Koné as an alternative to Fofana.
Calciomercato claim Milan have been dragging on negotiations because of their strategy to secure signings on their own terms. This has annoyed Monaco, who haven’t accepted their last offer of €17m for Fofana.
It’s claimed Monaco are ‘trying to open negotiations’ with several clubs. Erik ten Hag’s side are the latest, even though they haven’t yet tabled a bid for the Frenchman.
Whether they’re being used to pressure AC Milan here isn’t clear.
