Thursday’s edition of L’Equipe has a big article on the future of Benjamin Pavard, saying the Bayern Munich player is of interest to multiple clubs.
Chelsea are mentioned, which is nothing new given the Blues have been thrown into the mix recently. Atletico Madrid and Juventus are also said to be in the picture, and the French newspaper drag Manchester United into the equation.
According to the report, the Red Devils ‘have indicated’ the defender is on ‘their recruitment list’. Quite what that means isn’t entirely clear, and it’s stated no club has actually made an offer to Bayern yet.
Pavard is said to be reflecting on his future after a difficult period with the Bundesliga club. The 26-year-old wants to play more regularly as a central defender, and it’s explained that’s how clubs could attract him.
However, Manchester United now have a wealth of choices in central defence and it’s hard to see how Pavard would find a place there in Erik ten Hag’s starting eleven.
L’Equipe also point out a renewal is possible, and anyone with a passing interest in transfer rumours will know that claims of interest from big clubs can often help players get a better deal.
Nevertheless, the report estimates Pavard is currently valued at around €35m.
