River Plate’s rising talent Franco Mastantuono has attracted a host of major clubs via his performances, and Manchester United are now said to be the leading candidates in the race.
Calciomercato’s Daniele Longo has reported on the teenager today, stating that AC Milan are a suitor for Mastantuono and their move could depend on who their next sporting director will be.
Real Madrid have left the chase for the 17-year-old due to some issues with his agent and this has given a clear advantage to Manchester United.
The Red Devils are now ‘in pole position’ to land the midfielder, who can only be signed after he turns 18 on the 14th of August.
The report states that Manchester United will make an offer for the Argentine talent ‘within a few days’, having entered the conversation to sign him very well.
The teenager has shown an ability to play in wide areas this season, scoring a sensational free-kick against Boca Juniors at the weekend.
So far this season, Mastantuono has played 13 times in all competitions, scoring four times and assisting twice.
Reports in Argentina have mentioned Manchester United today, but there the feeling is that he’ll stay until the end of the Argentina domestic season, which lasts until December.
