Manchester United could be a potential destination for Inter Milan defender Stefan de Vrij, with it looking possible he could leave in the January transfer window.
That’s according to Calcio Mercato Web, who say there are several players at the Italian club who could be put up for sale next month.
The situation with the three starting defenders, Milan Skriniar, Alessandro Bastoni and De Vrij is ‘very delicate’ as all could be moved on.
Manchester United are considered a team to ‘watch out for’ during the January window as they are ‘on the hunt’ for players with international experience as Erik ten Hag looks to continue bolstering his defence.
The belief is that they could ‘jump on’ the opportunity to sign De Vrij, who may be available on the cheap as his contract is set to expire in the summer.
The player is one Ten Hag knows well given his knowledge of Dutch football and his potential €10m asking price is another bonus.
That’s ‘not a very high figure’ in real terms but is also ‘not low either’ given the player’s age so there is seemingly some reluctance from those in charge at Old Trafford.
