Angelo Stiller
COLOGNE, GERMANY – 28 SEPTEMBER, 2025: Angelo Stiller – The football match of Bundesliga 1.FC Koeln vs VfB Stuttgart at Rhein Energie Stadion.

Manchester United have one day left to use a purchase clause for Angelo Stiller, with a deal for the 25-year-old seemingly drifting away.

SportBILD cover the VfB Stuttgart midfielder today and how time is running out for his suitors to get him on the cheap.

Stuttgart’s Mr Indispensable

The newspaper explains how Angelo Stiller was Stuttgart’s Mr Indispensable last season. He led the German team to qualify for the Champions League and featured in more games than any other player.

The Bundesliga side are hoping he will stay this summer. Those hopes could be about to receive a major boost.

SportBILD report that Stiller’s release clause, which allows him to leave for just €36.5m this summer, expires at the end of Wednesday. Once that is gone, VfB will be in complete control and no longer need to worry about the clause or needing to buy it out for €3.5m.

Furthermore, the clause can’t be re-activated in the January transfer window either. The option will only reactivate next summer.

Manchester United choice

So, Manchester United have a decision to make. SportBILD report that a delegation from the club attended several of VfB’s home games last season to assess the German star.

Sport Witness have covered their interest in the midfielder for more than a year. But Sport BILD report that there have been no concrete talks with Stuttgart regarding a possible transfers. Such talks will be considerably more difficult once the clause has expired.

The question is whether Manchester United now want to move to take advantage of it. They’ve already signed Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans this summer. But reports have indicated they want a third midfielder to bolster Michael Carrick’s ranks for next season.

With no push for Stiller, it appears he’s not the man they want. But there is still time to change that and take advantage of a more than fair release clause.
