Manchester United ‘have already snapped up’ Geovany Quenda from Sporting Club de Portugal and a €60m move to Old Trafford is in the works.

That’s according to A Bola, who say a deal has already been done between the two clubs for a move in the summer.

They report that the 17-year-old is all set to join Manchester United, and reunite with Ruben Amorim, in a deal they believe will be worth around €60m.

Manchester United’s interest reportedly predates Amorim’s arrival at Old Trafford, despite him being the manager who launched Quenda in the Sporting first-team. Instead, his appointment has sharpened their desire to sign him.

A move won’t happen this month, despite the possibility being considered, but has already been planned for the summer.

Sporting are preparing to receive around €60m for the highly rated youngster, despite him having a contract until 2027 that includes an €80m release clause. Rather than getting that they’ll take a smaller initial value but with ‘safe variables’ and a percentage of the player’s rights instead.

Quenda’s new contract was signed in September as Sporting prepared themselves for future bids for their rising star, but it seems Manchester United have circumvented it anyway to already wrap up a deal for the summer.

The youngster has made 34 appearances so far this season, and can play on either the left or right.
