In a rather surprising turn of events, Eric Bailly could be heading back to England just months after leaving Manchester United on a free.

Thta’s according to journalist Gökmen Özcan, who took to X to reveal that following the announcement that five foreign Besiktas players had been put to one side in Turkey, the Ivory Coast has interest on these shores.

The centre-back did have one year left on his contract at Manchester United going into the summer, but with Erik ten Hag clearly unimpressed with him, he was allowed to leave and sign for the Süper Lig side free of charge.

However, injuries and rather poor performances have led to him being pushed to one side alongside Vincent Aboubakar, Jean Onana, Valentin Rosier and Rachid Ghezzal.

Özcan points out the defender has ‘suitors’ in England, while others could end up in places such as France and Saudi Arabia.

There’s no indication where the former Manchester United defender could end up, but he could be in line with a quick return to the Premier League if Besiktas agree to an early exit, which could clearly be on the cards.

Özcan, though, doesn’t reckon a transfer fee will be needed, as he doesn’t ‘think there will be any income’ from deals seeing Bailly and Ghezzal leave the club.
