Atalanta’s €70m demands for Rasmus Højlund are too much for Manchester United at this point, with the Italian side also uninterested in any deal involving other players.
That’s according to TuttoMercatoWeb, who say Manchester United continue to follow the striker ‘with interest’ but will have to work hard on a deal for him.
They explain that the initial €70m asking price being demanded by Atalanta is ‘considered too much’ by those in charge at Old Trafford.
TMW have also learned that the Italian side have no interest in players being included in the deal either, so potential offers including Fred or Mason Greenwood ‘are to be discarded’.
The only way such a deal taking place is if a young prospect, one liked by manager Gian Piero Gasperini and the management and who has ‘future potential’ with a salary that is ‘not exaggerated’ is offered to the Italian side.
Amad Diallo, who has returned to Manchester United from a loan spell with Sunderland, is a potential option as he is a player that Atalanta know well given he worked through their youth ranks before his move to Old Trafford in 2021.
So far there has been no ‘concrete offers’ and there is a ‘large distance’ between Manchester United and Atalanta at present, meaning there is work to be done before any deal for Højlund is anywhere near the final stretch.
