Manchester United could target Bayer Leverkusen’s Mousa Diaby if they can move on Anthony Martial in the summer transfer window.
That’s according to Fichajes, who say it could be a case of swapping one Frenchman for another in Erik ten Hag’s forward line.
They explain that Martial was once the most expensive signing in Manchester United’s history and considered one of the best talents in Europe, but he is yet to reach those levels.
His time at Old Trafford has been nothing but disappointment of late and that has ended Manchester United’s patience.
They’re overhauling the squad under Ten Hag’s guidance and the Dutchman has yet to see the ‘best version’ of the player, mostly due to injuries, something he’s not impressed with.
Thus, they have begun to ‘look for a destination’ for him to leave next summer and have already eyed up Diaby as a replacement.
The 23-year-old is the latest young French talent, as Martial once was, and his performances for Leverkusen have started to ‘attract the attention’ of several top teams in Europe.
That is something Manchester United are aware of, forcing them to sit down and negotiate a deal for Diaby as soon as possible.
They believe the deal for the forward could be one of the ‘big bombshells’ of the summer window, but first need to get rid of Martial before making their move.
