Manchester United are eyeing a double raid on Real Sociedad for stars Martín Zubimendi and Takefusa Kubo.
That’s according to Fichajes, who say Manchester United are ‘setting their sights’ on the two emerging La Real talents.
They report that United manager Erik ten Hag is a big fan of the pair and has sent scouts to ‘closely follow’ their performances this season.
Their interest in Zubimendi is nothing new as they were also linked in the summer transfer window, when rumours of his potential arrival at Old Trafford ‘caused great excitement’.
Real Sociedad remained firm with their desire to keep the player, though, and were unwilling to negotiate a deal, insisting that his termination clause be met if Manchester United wanted him.
They never did that, but the belief is that the situation could have changed and United would now be ‘willing to deploy their resources’ to get the talented midfielder.
Kubo, meanwhile, is a new target but is seen as an ‘attractive option’ for the club as they start to consider replacements for Jadon Sancho, whose time at Old Trafford appears to be over following his falling out with Ten Hag.
Again, though, Real Sociedad have no interest in selling the winger and it would require a ‘solid and creative’ approach to persuade the Basque club to change their mind.
Manchester United’s interest is said to be there nonetheless, as they not only look to potentially replace Sancho but also Casemiro as well.
There are various obstacles in their way, and it would be a ‘considerable challenge’ to get both players but Ten Hag’s determination ‘appears unwavering’ in his search for new talent for his side.
Whether that leads to a big double effort remains to be seen and given the source we will have to take the matter with a pinch of salt for now.
It’s also worth noting that whenever given the chance, Zubimendi has spoken about his long term commitment to Real Sociedad.
