Manchester United have been handed their chance to sign Eintracht Frankfurt star Randal Kolo Muani after a ‘turnaround’ regarding his future.
That’s according to SportBILD, who say Manchester United are ‘expected’ to make a bid for the Frenchman in the summer.
The newspaper explains that Frankfurt had been expecting Muani, who has 14 goals and 14 assists in all competitions this season, to stay at the club until at least 2024, with his agent publicly admitting that was the plan.
However, there has been a sudden change in strategy, with Muani electing to change representative and join Ousmane Dembele’s Moussa Sissoko instead.
He has ‘the best connections’ to the biggest clubs in Europe and that has set up the possibility of a transfer this year instead.
Indeed a deal is ‘already possible’ and the newspaper claims that ‘it is expected’ that interested parties such as Manchester United ‘will make an offer’ at some point.
All of those clubs want a ‘classic’ and ‘young’ centre-forward but the limited supply in Europe means they will have to compete and Muani and his advisors know this.
They’re working that to their advantage and Frankfurt are believed to be willing to do a deal ‘if the money is right’. They would ‘hardly say no’ to a deal worth around €100m were it offered.
Whether Manchester United will have that sort of money or be willing to spend it isn’t mentioned, although it is debatable given reports of how Erik ten Hag needs to sell before he can buy what he wants this summer.
Of course, the club could be owned by new, rich Qatari owners by that point and the Dutchman would have the funds to do as he pleases.
That remains to be seen but in Germany at least, they believe that a bid for Muani will be arriving from Old Trafford at some point.
