Manchester United are expected to make a bid for goalkeeper Josep Martínez today and get ahead of Inter Milan in the race for him.
That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who reports that Manchester United will submit a bid to Genoa today for the 26-year-old.
According to his information, United are ‘expected to formulate’ an official offer for the goalkeeper and make their interest in him concrete.
They appear to be unperturbed by Inter Milan’s interest in the player, with the Italian champions already talking to the Genoa goalkeeper’s representatives about a move this summer.
Tavolieri makes no mention of the nature of Manchester United’s bid, specifically what it will be valued at, although a report earlier today indicated that Genoa want to make at least €20m from a sale.
That same report made clear Inter Milan couldn’t afford such a price and so Manchester United have the advantage, and it seems the Red Devils are now willing to test that theory with an official bid for him.
How Genoa respond remains to be seen but the race for Martínez’s signature is set to really get going.
