Borussia Dortmund have negotiated a €3m loan deal with Manchester United for Jadon Sancho, which includes his salary as well.
That’s according to journalist Christian Falk, who says Manchester United will continue to pay two thirds of Sancho’s salary while he’s on loan back at the German club.
Reports this week have indicated that Dortmund are close to sealing a deal with Manchester United that will see Sancho return to his former club for the rest of the season.
The Red Devils are keen to get rid of the winger this month after a public falling out with Erik ten Hag earlier in the season that left Sancho out of the squad his time at Old Trafford effectively over.
He’s not been seen since September, at least in a footballing capacity and so Dortmund have swooped in to offer a deal that seemingly suits everyone.
Reports yesterday indicated that deal was close to being completed, with it claimed in Germany that Dortmund were even confident that Sancho could be a part of their post winter training camp this week.
Falk echoes that today, explaining what’s going on behind the scenes and detailing some of the finances involved in the forward’s exit from Manchester United.
“A month ago, it was reported that Dortmund would like to bring Jadon Sancho back and now it is happening,” he said.
“The talks are very, very solid, the Dortmund team are even expecting their ex to play in the training camp this week. The background is that Manchester United really wants Jadon Sancho to get match practice.
“He’s fallen out of favour with their coach (Erik ten Hag), isn’t even in the squad anymore and that’s why he can go to Dortmund.
“Sancho is worth a lot of money, don’t forget they paid €85m to Dortmund for Sancho and English media report Sancho can earn up to €2m from goal bonuses at United.
“Sebastien Kehl negotiated a loan of €3m including salary for Sancho, so United are still paying two thirds of his salary for him to play for Dortmund.
“So, we’ll have to see if it pays off in terms of performances. He hasn’t played much lately but he has huge potential. He’s shown great quality at Dortmund in the past and should try to do so again.”
