Manchester United have ‘until the end of this week’ to use their clause to buy Sofyan Amrabat, and the midfielder is being kept out of Fiorentina training until that deadline passes, reports TMW.
The player spent last season on loan at Old Trafford, in an expensive deal which is thought to have cost around €10m.
Part of the agreement saw a clause included which would allow the Premier League club to buy Amrabat for a pre-agreed fee, something TMW put at €20m.
According to previous reports from the Italian media, the player himself would be very keen on continuing with Manchester United, despite not playing a key role in the recently concluded campaign.
Erik ten Hag did use him more in the final weeks of the season and that didn’t work too badly for the club.
However, even if Manchester United do want to buy Amrabat then it’s unlikely they’ll have had any intention of using the clause anyway. They can almost certainly get the midfielder for less and therefore the deadline probably isn’t so important for them.
Indeed, Fiorentina being forced to bring him back for pre-season may encourage La Viola to bring the price down even further.
